Emmanuelle Khanh was already a legend of French fashion before her eyewear line existed. A former fitting model for Balenciaga and Givenchy, she became one of the defining voices of 1960s ready-to-wear, co-founding Emma Christie in 1962 and building a name compared to Mary Quant's for bringing street style into a world still ruled by haute couture. When she turned that same instinct toward glasses in the 1980s, she did to eyewear what she'd already done to clothing: took it off the sidelines and made it the statement. Oversized frames, bold tortoise patterns, ultra-slim silhouettes — worn by Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie alike — turned glasses into fashion rather than an afterthought to it.
That founding attitude, authenticity, optimism, and individuality, still runs through the house today. Frames are still handcrafted in France using techniques that go back over fifty years, built on the same values Khanh worked by: creativity, independence, and sustainability. Each new collection, including the current Highlight line, is framed as a tribute to that heritage, reinterpreted through a contemporary vision.
