Blake Kuwahara - Design matters

Our brand ethos is to bring to market eyewear that is ‘artful yet wearable’. The output is a distillation and highly curated colection of eyewear that reflects a soulful, tactile, and artisanal sensibility. By using laborious production techniques and a lot of handwork, an inner silhouette is encased in an unexpectedly fresh outer shape. This seamless fusion of two frames and the juxaposition of contrasting form and color create a design tension that is thoroughtly modern yet comfortably familiar.

Vava Eyewear - Contemporaneous look, subtly futuristic, conceptual and timeless

Exclusive eyewear that invites you to participate in a forward-thinking movement. The concept is closely linked to the “post-industrial” society in which we live, and the growing belief of belonging to a “post-human” age. We play around people’s imaginary and “science fiction”. Therefore, we are very much inspired by futuristic unisex characters. The unisex figure helped us to create a minimal silhouette and a monochromatic figure.

A techno product that, at same time, embodies the experience, knowledge and art of the great masters of the handmade eyewear. This approach, combined with the use of the highest quality materials, makes VAVA unique.

Emmanuelle Khanh

EMMANUELLE KHANH

With Emmanuelle Khanh, eyewear becomes a fashion accessory in its own right, the signature of a daring style, both eccentric and elegant. Traditional know-how is at the heart of the manufacture of the frames. Eva Gaumé joined Emmanuelle Khanh as Artistic and Image Director. She draws her inspiration from the women of today. Beyond the style and the thick-framed frames that have become cult, it is this character, free and feminist by instinct. The newer men’s collection imagines a strong, elegant and sensitive man. The frames are sculpted from one-centimetre-thick acetate, with bevelled edges that refine the silhouette and reflect the light, both classic and daring.

Masahiromaruyama

MASAHIROMARUYAMA

All MASAHIROMARUYAMA frames are made in the Fukui prefecture of Japan. In Fukui prefecture, the history of eyewear manufacturing has developed over a century and the frames are manufactured at an old-established factory in Sabae City. They work with skilled craftsmen to bring each delicate asymmetrical design and detail to life, producing a product that computerized manufacturing methods simply cannot compete with.

There are several steps required to make a pair of titanium glasses, including making a mold, pressing, brazing, polishing, finishing the surface, and then assembling the individual parts. Pure titanium is lightweight but possesses excellent strength; it requires an advanced technique to process and polish the delicate design frames to ensure high quality. Plastic frames are constructed of Mazzucchelli’s acetate. Skilled craftsmen fill each piece by hand to create a comfortable fit and transition of thickness in an asymmetric design. They are then buffed and polished to a lustrous finish.

Each collection is an inspired artistic design with a balance and harmony combining an opposite concept. Artwork, separating original properties of materials and boldly combining with different materials to show their presence, creating something completely new and different for you.
